What is FRACGP?

Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) denotes safe, specialised, high-quality general practice care.

At Priority Health Medical Centre, Doctors are Fellows of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), and Vocationally Registered Associates of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (GPs with 5yrs+ experience prior to the introduction of FRACGP), and our Registrars are qualified medical doctors who are undertaking advanced GP training to attain their FRACGP.

The Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) is a specialist general practice qualification accredited by the Australian Medical Council.

While general practice is a recognised medical specialty, not all medical practitioners working as GPs in Australia hold a specialist general practice qualification. The attainment of the FRACGP signifies that a GP has been assessed as competent across the core skills of general practice enabling him or her to practice safely, unsupervised, anywhere in Australia.

What is a Registrar/Doctor?

A GP Registrar is a fully qualified medical doctor, undertaking advanced training to specialise in General Practice. The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and Australia College of Rural and Remote Medicine requires General Practitioners to complete an advanced GP training program. Over at least two years, GP Registrars will attend placements at up to four different medical practices.

Here at Priority Health Medical Centre they receive a great opportunity to work in a highly functioning and supportive environment that focuses on family medicine and community health.  Being qualified medical doctors, GP Registrars are knowledgeable and skilled.  At times they may ask our Accredited Supervisors or Senior General Practitioners to assist them in your consultation for their expertise and advice in your health care.

Where is my Registrar?

After 12 months, Registrars may move onto their next placement.  Once they complete their final General Practice training requirements, they may return to us here at Priority Health Medical Centre.

We have welcomed and farewelled many brilliant and caring doctors over the years.
