Assessment, Diagnosis and Treatment Decisions

Consultations are for clinical assessment and discussion. Attendance at a consultation does not guarantee a requested diagnosis, referral, prescription, treatment or other specific outcome.

Our patient-centred approach takes into account each patient’s individual history, symptoms, circumstances and needs. Diagnosis, investigation, referral, prescribing and management decisions are based on the doctor’s clinical assessment, judgment and the information available at the time.

For some conditions, including complex mental health, behavioural or neurodevelopmental presentations, as well as other complex chronic conditions, further history, review appointments, questionnaires, reports or specialist assessment may be required before a diagnosis can be confirmed or before treatment options can be considered.
